Probably originally part of a border, this beige ground piece shows an early Baroque design in medium blue-green-grey and tawny yellow of acanthoids, vinery, birds and beads. The scrollery proceeds outward from an open central motif with volute “handles”, and a rectangular section, in the general manner of a strapwork vase. The pattern ends near the small sides and it may have been an entire border of a small tapestry. Tapestry, slit weave with all natural colors and wool pattern wefts. Good condition.
