Antique Bijar Rug 4'9'' x 6'2''. The finely abrashed dark blue ground displays eight off set rows each of four floating rose bouquets in the Gol-i-Firangi (European floral style), probably ultimately borrowed from a printed Western textile Rose main border of palmettes detailed in blue tones. Extremely solid and compact weave in symmetric knots. Bidjars are known as iron rugs for their durability. This Kurdish scatter is more likely a town Bidjar rather than a product of the surrounding villages. Excellent local tribal wool. Good condition. Needs a good stretching.
