DESCRIPTION

This roundel was cut from a larger piece, but retains the finer weave and charming drawing of the authentic Louis XVI style. The sandy straw ground displays a partial putto with arms outstretched, whose hands and lower body develop into acanthus stems, volutes and leaves, all surrounded by an attenuated laurel leaf circular border. Straw and rust details with three-dimensional drawing. Fairly good condition, fine weave.
