Antique Kazak Rug 10'6'' x 17'8''. An all-wool piece from the border area, with three columns of seven rows of wholly or partially fringed plaquettes enclosing geometric petal palmettes, on a deep blue indigo ground. Unidirectional pattern. Lesser naked palmettes in between. Details in red, straw, light green, light blue, and cream. Red main strip style border with palmettes and "snowflakes". Two blue minors with floating dots, four tertiary borders with keyhole reciprocals. Well-woven. Short clipped pile. A truly exceptional piece, probably from around 1800, in good condition.
