This definitely unusual urban Eastern Turkish city medallion carpet features a wide composite border of eight narrow stripes ("shoboukli") and a surrounding brick frame with petal palmettes and a layered barbed leaf arabesquerie. The creamy sand field shows rosettes and thin vines. The reddish mauve sub-field displays a tall, navy cusped medallion enclosing radiating oblique palmettes, rosettes and sickle leaves. Cotton foundation. Medium-fine weave. Fair condition with hole.
