Antique Mohtasham Kashan Rug 4' x 6'10''. More than 95% of all "Mohtasham" rugs are wool-piled, but a few, as here, are executed in silk. The short and recumbent silk pile shows a cerulean teal medallion, with double diamond and escutcheon pendants, on a cream ecru field accented by bold strapwork arabesques. Light rose conjoint corners, Crisp and abrashed light blue border with palmettes. Fine weave, slightly chunky drawing. Good condition. A genuine rarity.
