Antique Bakhtiari Rug 3'5'' x 9'6''. We attribute this attractive, red field kellegi to the Chahar Mahal Bakhtiari area, but it shows SW Persian traits including the cream borer with its multicolor reversing fan palmettes. The field repeats slender oblique navy acanthus leaves and open yellow lateral reserves, along with central ecru diamonds. Pattern is both rare and nameless, unlike many repeating Persian designs. Saturated palette. Good condition. Wool warp.
