DESCRIPTION

This northern Indian workshop carpet follows predecessors going back to the 17th century, although it is much closer to 19th century examples with its dark red field, giant lazy palmettes, cloud bands and centralized design. Sand border with in-and-out palmettes. Medium weave on cotton, moderately heavy handle. Good condition.
