The large majority of NW Persian Heriz district weavings are room-size carpets. The smaller ones, As here, take after their larger sisters in both palette and pattern as well exemplified here by the warm madder red ground, navy ragged octogramme pendant medallion, ecru corners, and the navy border with ragged polychrome palmettes, rosettes, and strongly barbed oblique leaves. It could easily be blown up to 9 by 12 dimensions. All-natural dyes. Medium-coarse weave, cotton foundation. Good condition.
