A generic term referring to any carpets made within the confines of the Middle Kingdom including: Ningxia (north central China), Peking (woven in the capital city), Tientsin (Tianjian, primarily Art Deco and from NE China,  Xinjiang Province, (western China), Tibetan and Mongolian, from the 16^th century onward, in sizes ranging from small ruglets to enormous palace – sized creations, and generally with wool pile.  Round and oval rugs. Prices range from inexpensive to moderately pricey.
