From the later antique Mohtasham era, this finely woven central carpet with velvety pile shows a navy millefleurs field enclosing a shaped red cartouche-form subfield edged with straw forked arabesques. Pendanted cream scalloped medallion and unusual pendanted navy sub-medallion. Pendanted triangular cream corners. Navy border with rosettes and slanted leaf-palmettes. Cotton foundation. Good condition for the type and age.
